4 Ways to Celebrate National Dance Week With Your Young Dancers

Even though this week is short I still plan on doing some activities for National Dance Week. Are you celebrating it with your students? Here are some easy ways I came up with to share National Dance Week with your young dancers and their families:

1) Find a time in class where you can sneak in questions. Maybe it’s when you are setting up the dots, or when you are passing out stickers. Ask them: why they like to dance? You would be surprised at there answers!

2) Pass out DanceStudioOwner.com coloring pages! They love to color these, and by sharing these they are educating other people around them about dance too.

3) Pass out a list of dance books that are great for kids! These could make great bedtime stories all week long! You can find many great dance books to compile your list here.

4) Teach them a song or dance that they can go home and teach to their parents. Here’s a song I came up with to the tune of I’m a little teapot.

“You are a dancer, jump, skip, turn”
“Let’s dance together, everyone can learn”

Are you celebrating National Dance Week this week with your students? How do you educate parents of your students about dance?  I would love to hear your creative ideas!

p.s. I missed you all last week while I was on vacation! Happy to be back. 🙂
