Foam Shapes

Want to know what I have been working on this week? More arts and crafts! At the Dance Teacher Summit I went to a prop seminar from Beverly Spell of Leap N’ Learn. It was such a neat idea that I thought my students would love it. And I thought you would love it too!

Here’s what I did-

I ordered 2 packages of foam sheets from Oriental Trading. 48 sheets in total.

Then I traced 2 stars on each piece of foam. (hint: I used my star spots for the pattern)

Cut them out…

And now I have foam stars!

I imagine the kids dancing with these in high, medium and low levels. Maybe I would ask them to show me their shooting star? What  would your shooting star look like? So many different types of dances we could do with these. Do you have any ideas for a star dance?

Next up are circles, hearts, and maybe just strips of foam for them to make their own shapes while they dance. Do you think your students could get creative with these in there dances? I like the idea because it’s different from using scarves and ribbons all the time. Try it out! Why not, right?
